To Those Normally Unrecognized

I owe special thanks to a great many non-human influences in my life for helping to make me who I am today. These include (but are not limited to) the seamonkeys I accidentally killed when I was little. The 6 goldfish I had as a child. My first dog, who lived 5 years... I think. My second dog who was actually my father's dog and is living on a farm with children. My two guinea pigs, one of whom is deceased. My current dog, who thinks he's a cat. "My" willow tree which was chopped down this year. Every book I've ever read. The worm whose life I think I saved when I was very young. My Aunt's horse. A large pile of branches I befriended one summer. The ocean. The first tree I climbed. All the abandoned kittens I helped to nurse. Those kittens' mother who we finally domesticated. Almost every movie I've ever seen. The tree by my childhood home and all the Junebugs that nested in it. The hundreds, maybe thousands of clouds I've watched rolling over. Lightning and its child thunder. The over 5,000 sunsets and sunrises I've seen. A certain pair of jeans. The lake where I learned to swim by necessity... and a good many others. Thank you.
